In my project proposal I wrote that I want to make text visual and create such shapes and forms that you can read a fairy-tale with out words. It gave me very good immediate start. I wasn't really sure how I will do it, but i knew what I want to create and how much time I had for that. The idea to make all the storyboard out of wire doesn't seem so easy now. I did needed to revise my first ideas and plans after proper research.
Even if I have changed my project through the research and idea development, I still managed to visually present a fairy-tale to a public. The text attached on the top, considering my FMP proposal not suppose to be there, but it completes my project, and gives it a new meaning. The fire-bird in a cage is a light, which you can use for reading fairy-tales before you go to sleep. It does work as a night light by itself and you can change the light to make it brighter or lighter.
Besides that, I got a few ideas during this project, that I want to full fill after this course. I definitely want to research more birds animal skeletons and use it for the mixed media sculpture. As well as I have a very real Idea now how to show text in wire. First I need to do all the parts and then fix them together in a sphere shape or big tube. It might be quite big, but the bigger - the better.
My research was good and I didn't really needed to come back for more ideas or inspiration. I was mostly researching mixed media sculpture, because I didn't need any help in making things. I knew what I wanted to do and what tools I have at home. The other part of my research was in the 4D modelling shop, where I was wondering about for 3 hours choosing appropriate materials for my project and my tools (with kind staff help of course).
Talking about methods and processes I needed to experiment with wire mesh and get new ideas how to make a bird, because I found polystyrene very uneasy and not practical. I can't say I got the expected result from my materials, but I got clear idea now how to use them and get exactly what I want.
Looking back at feedbacks and crits I found them useless as they wasn't critical. Just wasn't helpful at all.
My time management plant wasn't any good at all as I changed the direction of my project straight after submitting the action plan.
If I think about what I have learned during this project, I would say that on a first place is how to organize your my work. What I need to do after what. As well as, importance of an action plan. In the end I planned my work every day before I start doing anything.
